Driver parks lorry by a police station to grab takeaway, gets fined for tax, MOT and tachograph violations

A lorry driver who blocked the entrance to Haverhill police station to grab a takeaway from a nearby eatery got more than he bargained for when he returned to his vehicle.

The driver parked his vehicle in front of the police station in the High Street of Haverhill while stopping to collect his takeaway last weekend. However, it wasn’t his parking that the police found most concerning.

Officers found that the driver had removed his driver card & tacho fuse, thereby interrupting his daily rest period before popping out of the lorry. On top of that, the police discovered that the driver’s vehicle had no valid MOT, and the lorry’s road tax hadn’t been paid either.

The driver has thus been issued a Traffic Offence Report.
