BELORUS: Payment changes for vehicles not exceeding 3.5 t from 1 January 2023

Starting from 00:00 1 January 2023 drivers of vehicles with a maximum laden weigh not exceeding 3.5 tonnes, who are obliged to pay, in Belarus will be able to pay for using toll roads only by means of an electronic vignette.

Owners of vehicles with a maximum laden weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes, who currently use an OBU to pay for using toll roads in the BelToll system, can return the device at any Customer Service Point and get back the deposit paid on its receipt, as well as the amount of the unused prepaid balance within 3 years from the date when the last transaction was made in the system.

Starting from 1 January 2023, for all vehicles with a maximum laden weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes payment for using toll roads by means of the earlier received OBU will no longer be possible.

An electronic vignette can be purchased for either 15 or 30 calendar days, or a calendar year. It costs 14, 22 and 75 EUR, respectively, and is paid by the user in Belarusian rubles in accordance with the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus at the time of payment. In this case, a calendar year shall mean the period from 1 January to 31 December of the corresponding year, as well as the last 15 calendar days of the previous year and the first 15 calendar days of the following year.

It is possible to purchase an electronic vignette by contacting a BelToll Customer Service Point or online by vising a corresponding section of the system’s official website www.beltoll.by. Once you purchase an electronic vignette, the details of the vehicle for which it was purchased (licence plate number and country of registration), as well as the information about the chosen period of its validity, are transmitted to the BelToll system, which automatically monitors the user’s compliance with the toll payment procedure for the roads of the Republic of Belarus.
