F-MAX – 134 km/h on frozen Lake Baikal (PHOTO, VIDEO)

Ford Trucks which drew worldwide attention with the F-MAX – winner of the 2019 “International Truck of the Year” (IToY) and “Truck of the Year” in Russia – blazed yet another trail at the speed festival held on frozen Lake Baikal in Russia. The F-MAX became the first truck to participate in the “Days of Speed on the Ice of Lake Baikal” event, and in its segment broke the speed record on the frozen lake.

Ford Trucks, participating in this year’s “Days of Speed on the Ice of Lake Baikal” broke the speed record with the Ford Trucks F-MAX driven by Russian former Rally Champion Ilona Nakutis. The F-MAX blazed a trail in the heavy commercial vehicles segment by reaching a top speed of 134 km/h on the frozen lake. Performing a brake test at a speed of 80 km/h on the ice, F-MAX managed to reach a braking distance of 169.45 meters.

The “Days of Speed on the Ice of Lake Baikal” is an annual event that has been run by the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and RAF (Russian Automobile Federation). With a maximum depth of 1,642 meters, Lake Baikal which is in Siberia, Russia, is the deepest lake in the world.
