– This new facility will not only enable us to meet the individual requirements of our customers as well and as quickly as possible; it will also allow us to ensure a high level of environmental protection and CO2 optimization –  said Helmut Schweighofer, CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and South East Europe, on the occasion of the opening of the new terminal in Graz-Wundschuh.

Cutting edge freight traffic center south of the Alps

Along with state-of-the-art IT solutions and current safety standards, the integrated logistics services provider is focused primarily on environmental protection. The entire logistics center is illuminated with daylight-dependent LED lights. In addition, about 8,000 m2 is temperature controlled between 15 and 25°C. This optimally ensures that temperature-sensitive items, such as pharmaceutical products, are stored without problems.

The new location has a total area of 70,000 m2 and includes a transshipment area of nearly 3,500 m2 along with a 2,800 m2 office building and approximately 27,000 m2 of logistics area. The new terminal in Graz is thus the most advanced freight traffic center south of the Alps. Its direct connections to the rail network via the southern intermodal terminal and to the A2 and A9 freeways make the logistics center an easily-accessible location that can also offer customers a block train shuttle between Werndorf and the port of Koper on the Adriatic Sea.
