The logistics provider FERCAM, through its specialized Business Unit Fine Art, which focuses on museum transports and complex handling operations, has managed the international transport of “Apparato circolatorio,” a sculpture by renowned Italian artist Jago, now on display at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Now open to the public, the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka hosts “Apparato circolatorio” (one of Jago’s most emblematic works, known for its powerful symbolic charge and strong visual impact).
The handling and transport of the fragile sculpture, carried out by FERCAM’s Fine Art Business Unit, included the careful removal from the Jago Museum in Naples, the design and construction of custom packaging, shipment to Osaka, and, following the conclusion of the exhibition, the return of the piece to Italy.
– Transporting a fragile and meaningful artwork like “Apparato circolatorio” requires detailed preparation, specific technical know-how, and a trusted relationship with the artist – says Carolina Cuomo, FERCAM Fine Art Area Executive.
– Every detail was meticulously planned – from the crate construction to shipment tracking, all the way to coordination with Japanese customs authorities. We’ve been working with Jago for years, and this project gave us the opportunity to bring our expertise to a prestigious international setting like the Expo, reinforcing the idea that logistics is an integral part of the artistic process.
The journey of Jago’s artwork to the Italian Pavilion at Expo marks a new milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the artist and FERCAM, a leading international logistics operator based in South Tyrol, with three locations in Japan.
A direct presence in Japan for global support
With operational offices in Narita, Tokyo, and Osaka, FERCAM Japan provides on-the-ground coverage of key logistics hubs throughout the country, offering advanced logistics support, document management, and customs consultancy in close coordination with the European team. This direct presence reinforces the Group’s integrated approach, which combines international vision with strong local operational capacity. FERCAM’s global network allows it to manage complex projects across every stage, adapting solutions to the cultural and regulatory specificities of each country.
The value of social and environmental sustainability
The sculpture’s custom transport crates were developed in collaboration with Echo Labs, FERCAM Group’s social enterprise, which employs refugees and asylum seekers in its in-house carpentry workshop. The initiative is part of the REcrate project, which promotes sustainable packaging in the art world through modular design, responsible reuse, and certified materials.
– REcrate reflects our vision of fine art logistics that goes beyond safety and technical precision – it’s about creating value on both the environmental and social levels – adds Chiara Prisco, Head of FERCAM Fine Art.
– Being part of this project with Echo Labs means combining craftsmanship, inclusion, and responsibility, offering a sustainable future for the art logistics sector.
