METRANS Group: Keeping Europe Connected
METRANS Group is one of the key players in European intermodal logistics. With its own network of terminals, locomotives, wagons, and smart intermodal transport solutions, it offers customers a neutral, fast, efficient, and sustainable way to move goods across the continent. Whether it’s from ports to inland destinations or between major industrial hubs, METRANS operates numerous connections every day that keep European trade moving.
The group’s core philosophy is independence and quality. METRANS does not rely only on external capacities – it builds its own infrastructure, operates its own trains, and invests in technologies that offer customers greater control, precision, and flexibility. But cooperate also with lot of partners from the each and every segment.
With 20 container terminals across Europe (plus two more under construction), more than 150 locomotives, a fleet of 4,000 proprietary wagons, and over 650 regular train departures per week, METRANS manages to transport more than 1.4 million TEU annually. All of this is the result of a long-term strategy focused on stability, self-sufficiency, and service excellence.
M-Rail: A New Milestone on the Road to Self-Sufficient Logistics
A major step forward came with the launch of M-Rail, METRANS Group’s own rail operator in Serbia. Since December 2024, M-Rail has been operating rail services to and from the terminal in Inđija using modern electric and diesel locomotives. This move strengthens the group’s autonomy in the Balkans and opens new possibilities for smooth and efficient connections between the region and key logistics hubs.

The next phase of M-Rail’s development is already underway – the six METRANS Siemens ER 20 locomotives are currently being tested. Once approved, they will significantly expand the group’s capacity and operational flexibility in the region. And support the METRANS E-locos, which are already running in Serbia.
After a successful start and several months of operation, METRANS is ready to meet growing market demand and increase transport volumes accordingly.
Investing in the Future
METRANS is steadily moving toward a sustainable and modern logistics model. The combination of rail transport with electric locomotives, digital solutions including its proprietary information system MIS and apps like MTRUCKS, process automation, and a strong focus on ecology all demonstrate the group’s commitment to shaping the logistics of the future – a direction expected not only by the industry but also by the broader public.

Artificial intelligence is also playing an increasingly important role in logistics. It enables route optimization, efficient inventory management, and more accurate demand forecasting. METRANS is embracing these trends and working on integrating AI into its systems to deliver real value – in the form of lower emissions, faster delivery times, and enhanced service quality. AI is no longer just a vision of the future; it’s becoming a practical tool in daily operations.
One Step Ahead
But it’s not only about technology.
METRANS actively engages with the younger generation – collaborating with schools and universities, offering internships and training, and creating space for fresh ideas. It is this openness to innovation, a strong long-term vision, and an emphasis on in-house solutions that make METRANS a group actively shaping the future of European logistics.
