Constanta Port Day in Belgrade attended by over 250 participants
This year’s Constanța Port Day in Belgrade once again garnered significant interest from the business community in Serbia and abroad, particularly those involved in river transport, logistics, and agribusiness.
The 16th edition of this professional gathering and networking platform for key market players was held at the Sava Center on October 3. The event welcomed representatives from companies in Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Montenegro. Romanian Ambassador to Serbia, Silvia Davidoiu, graced the event with her presence.
Vladan Mišić, the representative of the Port of Constanța in Belgrade, had the honor of opening the event as the host.
George Gabriel Visan, Commercial Director of the NC Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanța, presented the port’s performance, noting that 2023 was a year of challenges but also of strong results.
– The total cargo traffic in 2023 amounted to 92.5 million tons, marking a 22.5% increase compared to 2022. This is a historic achievement for the Port of Constanța. When it comes to Serbia, our company will continue to support our partners from this country.
Grains from the Danube – Challenges and Opportunities
During the panel discussion titled “Grains from the Danube – Challenges and Opportunities,” participants had the opportunity to hear more about the current situation on the Danube. The panel was moderated by Ms. Sunčica Savović, Director of the Serbian Grain Association, and featured speakers including George Gabriel Visan, Commercial Director of the C.N. APM SA Constanța, Marian Dragu from TTS Romania, Milan Zorić from CHS Serbia, and Đorđe Krkljuš from Comvex Romania.
Experts in trade, transport, and grain storage from Serbia and Romania have emphasized the importance of diversifying services and attracting new types of cargo.
Increase in transport volume
In the first six months of this year, cargo traffic from Serbia showed an increase of 28% compared to the previous year: 4,274,453 tons in 2024, compared to 3,100,661 tons in 2023. Goods from Serbia transiting through the Port of Constanța were destined for South Africa, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia, and Turkey, with fertilizers, grains, solid mineral fuels, and iron ores being predominant.
At the Constanța Port Day in Serbia, representatives of Romanian companies have the opportunity to meet annually with their Serbian partners and reaffirm their openness to new collaborations with representatives of ports along the Danube and throughout the region. This year, the delegation from CN APM SA Constanța was accompanied by representatives from port operators Chimpex, Comvex, Frial, JT Oil, Sea Container Group, Silk Route Shipping, and Transport Trade Services.
The event concluded with B2B meetings.
