Seat of Transport Community opened in Belgrade
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended the opening of the seat of the Secretariat of the South-East Europe Transport Community in Belgrade today.
The opening of the seat of the SEE Secretariat at Beogradjanka was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, Interim Director of the Transport Community Alain Baron and Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi.
The founding of the Transport Community was agreed and signed in 2017 as part of the Berlin Process.
Brnabic said that this is the first seat of the international community in our country.
This is a great honour for Belgrade and Serbia since huge trust has been bestowed on us. I want to thank all the partners in the region for supporting us and for not stopping us from doing so, Brnabic said.
She said that today everyone sends an important message that we can successfully work with all partners in the region and find ways to overcome obstacles and have a better future.
This is a new chapter in the development of a modern Serbia and the Western Balkans, Brnabic said.
Mihajlovic said that all countries in the region will now be closer to the EU and that the Transport Community will help achieve a higher standard of living for all citizens in the region.
With the Transport Community, we are already halfway in the EU, Mihajlovic stated.
The Treaty on the Establishment of the Transport Community was signed in Trieste in July 2017, and Belgrade was unanimously elected as the seat of the permanent Secretariat at the Transport Community Ministerial Meeting in Brussels in December 2017.
