MSC launches a new solution connecting Asia and Europe

MSC is launching a new intermodal rail freight option connecting Europe and Asia.

The new service combines a rail service across Russia from Vladivostok and Vostochniy to St Petersburg with feedering options in Asia and Europe to connect load and destination ports.

The service will connect ports in China, Japan and South Korea with major European ports such as Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Le Havre. For Shanghai – St Petersburg the transit would 24 days while Rotterdam would be 36 days and Le Harve 37 days.

Interested companies can contact local MSC representatives, in global network of more than 500 offices.

Volumes moved by rail freight are relatively small compared to the 20,000 teu plus ultra large containerships that ply the Asia – Europe trade but do provide an alternative to sea freight, in particular for Northeast Asian load ports.
