Toyo Tire Facility – first in Europe, located in Serbia
One of the world’s largest manufacturers of motor vehicle tires, the Japanese company Toyo Tires opened a factory in Inđija, Serbia. Production line will include both Toyo and Nitto brand tires.
The official opening of the Japanese company Toyo Tire factory was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the General Director of the Toyo Tire Corporation, Takashi Shimizu, H.E. Ambassador of Japan to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata, Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujović, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović, as well as the President of the Provincial Government Igor Mirović, and the President of the Municipality of Inđija Vladimir Gak.
The factory in Inđija is the first greenfield investment of the Japanese corporation Toyo Tire in Serbia, but also the first in Europe. Investment worth 382 million euros is also the largest Japanese investment in Serbia so far.
Toyo announced that by 2023, the factory in Inđija will produce five million tires annually while 523 workers will be employed full time. Inđija will be a production centre of premium tires for the world’s most famous car manufacturers, Audi and Porsche. Tires from this Toyo facility will be exported to the markets of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America. The product line includes the Toyo Tires and Nitto brands, known for their outstanding features and quality, which account for 85 percent of Toyo Tire Corporation’s total sales.
The company also has the highest standards when it comes to environmental protection, which will be applied in Serbia as well. Innovative technologies are applied in the work process, while respecting the highest global standards in environmental protection.
The new factory in Serbia features state-of-the-art technologies, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution system (MES), to visualize processes. By precisely linking the status information of each piece of highly productive production equipment, this “smart factory” unlocks a higher dimension of production management system optimization.
Toyo Tire Corporation has been one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers for more than 75 years, with seven tire plants and four auto parts plants, as well as nearly 13,000 employees worldwide. The company has collaborative relationships with largest car manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Audi, VW, Porsche.
