At cargo-partner construction machinery already in progress

cargo-partner laid the foundation stone for the second phase of construction of the logistics center. With this expansion the facility will enlarge from current 25,000 m2 to a total of 39,100 m2 of storage space. The investment, worth 11 million euros, is expected to be completed in November this year.

cargo-partner, one of the leading logistics providers in Slovenia, opened a modern logistics center – one of the largest in the group – in September 2019, in the immediate vicinity of Ljubljana Airport. In the last two years the company recorded steep business growth, despite many challenges in the logistics industry. The rapid filling of capacities, increased demand for warehousing services and the great potential that Slovenia has in the field of transport and logistics were the main reasons why the company decided to increase storage capacity early. Originally the expansion was planned for the period 2024-2026.

Additional capacities and new jobs

The construction of the new facility will take place on the north side of the existing complex, under the supervision of the architectural bureau Protim Ržišnik Perc. As the main contractor Gorenjska Gradbena družba d.d. has been selected again. The expansion will create 20-30 additional jobs and the new employees will have the possibility to work with state-of-the-art logistics equipment.

The new facility will offer more than 18,000 pallet slots on three floors and additional space for modern storage and integrated logistics solutions. The flexible design of the facility will enable support for all multi-modal services and high-tech logistics solutions. Part of the facility will also be adapted to the services for e-commerce, including the “Drive-IN” pick-up point for personal collection or return of packages.

– With the new facility, we will provide additional modern storage capacities, which are currently in short supply on the market. At the same time, this will be partly a fulfilment center, where we will provide all the technological and IT support that online retailers need – says Viktor Kastelic, the Manager Director of the cargo-partner Slovenia.

Close cooperation between Austria and Slovenia

The ground-breaking ceremony, which was held in a narrower lineup due to the pandemic, was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Slovenia Ms. Elisabeth Ellison-Kramer, Mayor of Cerklje na Gorenjskem Mr. Franc Čebulj and the Director of Advantage Austria Slovenia Mr. Wilhelm Nest. The latter said that the investment of cargo-partner is one of the largest Austrian investments in Slovenia, which confirms the fact that Slovenia is an interesting investment market for Austria. According to Mr. Nest, the two countries have established good cooperation, which will be further strengthened in the future, according to the recent survey conducted by Advantage Austria Slovenia.

The Austrian company has been present in Slovenia since 1996 and is one of the largest logistics providers in Slovenia offering customers a complete range of services, including air, sea and road transport, customs services and warehousing and logistics solutions. The company is present at two locations: in Koper and Zgornji Brnik, where the iLogistics Center Ljubljana is located.
