Multi-Million Euro Investment Strengthens Palletways Group’s Italian Network
In a further show of network strengthening, the Palletways Group has ploughed a multi-million Euro investment into new facilities in Italy that will help accelerate transit times across the whole network.
The strategic location of the new 30,000 m² hub and headquarters for the Group’s Italian network in Bologna will facilitate access from northern, central, and southern Italy. With optimised processes along with its two regional hubs in Mesero, Milan and Avellino in the Campania region and a widespread network of members, the hub will ensure the Group can ship goods across the country within 24 or 48 hours.
Cutting-edge technologies developed by the Palletways Group, all designed to speed up movement and provide all-important visibility of goods, will be key at the hub. Palletways ID, the Group’s innovative technology created to capture real- time information via forklift truck-mounted sensor technology, already operating successfully in the UK and Spain, will soon be rolled out. The logistics giant has also committed to develop developing new features on its app with a ‘live exception code’ to complement its ETA function, meeting customers’ demands for real-time information.
The BREEAM “Very Good” certified facility has been built with the environment in mind and features 1,100 photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging, measures for the recycling and reuse of rainwater, planting of more than 100 trees and a cycle path that will connect the industrial area with Osteria Nuova train station in Sala Bolognese.
Luis Zubialde, CEO of Palletways Group, said: “The launch of our new hub represents an important milestone for the Palletways Group and our Italian network. The facility has been designed with respect for the environment and features the latest technological developments that will provide our members and their customers with the highest levels of quality, resulting in improved transit times and more efficient operations.”
