A new World Bank report stresses a short supply in qualified labour across logistics chains in both developed and developing countries, and points to IRU to mitigate the problem.
The report highlights that shortages range on all occupational levels from a lack of truck drivers to problems in filling senior supply chain management positions. It also notes that skills shortages are particularly acute in developing countries.
Best practice in competence development, such as training initiatives, are particularly relevant for the current workforce in developing regions. These are facilitated using off-the shelf resources and reference tools provided by global organisations such as IRU which has established training programmes and train-the-trainer modules through its IRU Academy. The report recommends that these capacity building standards be deployed more widely to mitigate this growing issue.
