Palfinger: New production site in Niš in 2024.
By investing over four billion dinars in a new location, the Austrian company Palfinger is creating 375 jobs and the necessary production capacities. The Serbian government is supporting the project and is turning Niš into an international technology center.
As part of its growth strategy, Palfinger is expanding its European production network. That is why the world’s leading provider of innovative crane and lifting solutions is investing EUR 35,5 million (more than four billion dinars) in a new component plant in Niš. The ultra-modern plant perfectly fits into the company’s value chain of more than 30 sites worldwide. Production in Niš will start in 2024. By the time the plant reaches completion in 2027, around 375 new jobs will have been created in the region.
– With the new plant in Niš, we are expanding our capacities and ensuring optimum utilization of all our other production sites in Europe – explains Palfinger CEO Andreas Klauser.
– Our commitment in Niš is also an important and visible sign of the reindustrialization of Europe, to which Palfinger is actively contributing with this plant – adds Klauser.
In recent years, a number of manufacturing companies from the European Union, including from Austria, have already become established in Niš. With targeted support from the Serbian government, the best possible conditions are created for successful commercial relations.
Following the completion of the first construction phase in 2024, Palfinger will gradually establish the production of steel- and sub-components in Niš for a wide variety of product lines, from loader cranes to access platforms until 2027.
They are particularly important as part of Strategy 2030 and the two strategic pillars “Go for Solutions” and “Go Digital”. On this basis and by combining physical and digital solutions, Palfinger is developing into a provider of integrated lifting solutions. For its customers, this means that they receive hardware and software from a single source and thus highly networked, individually configured products. The high standards set by Palfinger are reflected in the architecture of the new buildings.
The component plant is characterized by a series of proactive, energy-saving and energy-generating features. The photovoltaic systems covering a roof area of 15,000 square meters alone will provide around two megawatts of peak power output when completed. Using the latest cooling and heating technology ensures the best climate inside the factory at all times.
– Because of its qualified workforce, strategic location, and economic support for development, Niš is an ideal production site for Palfinger. We see this investment as the start of a successful long-term partnership – says Andreas Klauser.
With this new location, the company is creating the necessary expansion of its production capacities while maintaining high quality in strategic proximity to the existing Palfinger plants in Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.
